Joachim Freiherr von Vietinghoff
Joachim von Vietinghoff who lives in Berlin, produced over 50 feature- and television films. Many of them have represented the offical competition entry at the Cannes International Film Festivals and have received awards such as the German Film Award as well as:
„David“ by Peter Lilienthal (Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival 1979)
„Engel aus Eisen“ (Angels of Iron) by Thomas Brasch (Cannes Film Festival 1981)
„Das Autogramm“ (The Autograph) by Petr Lilienthal (Venice Film Festival 1988)
„Alles auf Anfang“ (Back to the Square One) by Reinhard Münster (Berlin Film Festival 1994)
„Wedding-Berlin“ by Heiko Schier ( Film Festival Hof 1989)
„Dr. Knock“ by Dominic Graf (Film Festival Munich 1997, Adolf Grimme Award 1998/best director)
„Dunckel“ by Lars Kraume (Film Festival Munich 1998, Film Festival Hamburg/Young Diretors`Award
Joachim von Vietinghoff produced Films amongs with director Thomas Brasch, Erden Kiral, Bela Tarr, Antonio Skarmeta, Heiko Schier, Reinhard Münster and Peter Lilienthal
Since some years von Vietinghoff is teaching Productionmanagement at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin (DFFB), Filmschool Hamburg-Berlin, University Magdeburg and Institute for actors, -film- and TV Professional in Berlin (ISFF).
From 1985-2001 he was member of the selection committee for competition at the Berlin Film Festival .
In 2001 Exhibition „Pictures, Stories, Films –The Producer Joachim von Vietinghoff“ at the Berlin Film Museum.
For his merits about the German and European Films von Vietinghoff received the Medal of the Federal Republic Germany at first class.
In 2004 jury president at the North Korea International Film Festival and in 2005 jury member at the Damascus/Syria International Film Festival.
Since 2006/2007 he is producing with the hungarian director Bela Tarr the Novel by Georges Simenon „The man from London“.
In 2007 he will produce the bestselling Story „Russendisco“ by Wladimir Kaminer.
